Mo' Money Mo' Problems

Pro athletes are commonly involved in business opportunities gone wrong.  Its a cultural issue more than anything.  For example, NCAA academic standards for student-athletes are set low for high revenue sports, football and basketball.  Most institutions are not concerned about these student-athletes studying subjects that can be helpful for being successful as a pro-athlete.  There are several debates over what academic standard should be set for student-athletes.  This link scratches the surface of the problems that pro-athletes face.  Hiring the wrong people as advisers is the topic that got me thinking.

  1. Interesting- but even as individuals we rely on family and friends becasue we trust them. Just as asking a friend or someone we trust who was your realtor. The list goes on. It just seems that often times people with wealth either they manage it or mismanagement. I do like the statement in the article. The reason people go broke is because they don't know enough about money....
