I read this article today that is something I do not normally read. It is very ironic that she was reluctant to leave the circles she was a part of. But, knew the best years were in front of her. High standards motivated her. I know she probably comes from a very different upbringing- I can relate to her excitement for the possibilities in the future.
Memorial Day
This past weekend, my family put on a horse show in honor of a family member who has passed. We all remember those in our lives who have passed in different ways. No one way is the correct way. It is all about bringing people together to celebrate an individual they had in common.

Mo' Money Mo' Problems
Pro athletes are commonly involved in business opportunities gone wrong. Its a cultural issue more than anything. For example, NCAA academic standards for student-athletes are set low for high revenue sports, football and basketball. Most institutions are not concerned about these student-athletes studying subjects that can be helpful for being successful as a pro-athlete. There are several debates over what academic standard should be set for student-athletes. This link scratches the surface of the problems that pro-athletes face. Hiring the wrong people as advisers is the topic that got me thinking.

Alternative Housing
Simple living. There are different types of living arrangements that people choose to live in. This site depicts an Australian church that has been renovated into a modern dwelling. It seems that the older buildings get, the more likely they are to be turned into residences. One example here in KC is the fact that many warehouses around downtown are being converted into lofts.
This story describes a micro cabin that can be considered as a true getaway. It is basically a tiny cabin. Solitude has never been so easy.

Youth
I recently came across this story and it made me reflect on my own childhood. I astounded by the fact that children are becoming more and more tech savvy. It is engrained into their curriculum at school and even in their home lives. Ever since the Ipad came out, I have seen an increasing amount of toddlers being occupied by these devices. This opens up a market for applications that are geared towards child development. Although I do not have children, I am fairly confident in children's abilities to learn how to use the devices. This is a new age of technology that will help younger people adapt to the real world.

The ever evolving world of supplements is very interesting. It seems that most people will believe anything. Some call them stupid. People will buy a lot of useless products believing that it will help their physical appearance. There are products out there that will help assist the process concurrent with exercise and a healthy diet. This story really started this blog post. The placebo effect is very thought provoking. Never underestimate the power of the human mind.

I came across this story on a website today. Novel idea. It really made me think about my relationships with others in life. Mooching happens all the time. There is nothing that I dislike more than others taking advantage of something that isn't theirs. Being kin is not a good excuse either. It is important to adopt an "it all comes around" approach with people that are close to me and and I deem trustworthy. There are an equal amount of people in my life that I would loan money to and people I would laugh at if they asked me for the same amount. Recognizing these people is an important task in life.

I recently read an article about disconnecting from the internet for one year. Being born in the mid 1980s, I have gotten a chance to see technology develop into our everyday lives. In elementary school, floppy disks were the norm in my computer classes. People judged you based on your WPM. Zach Morris was the first person I saw on television that used a cell phone.
Now, many objects that surround us everyday seems to have WiFi built into it. Don't get me wrong, I have embraced technology and cannot fathom what my life would be without it. I don't need internet access in my cell phone; but, I am sure glad I have it. Our lives are more efficient. Commerce has matured immensely.

This is my blog. I am not exactly sure what I will be writing about. I pay attention to the sports world and find many things amusing within it. Different situations arise and I like to discover new views on interpreting the information. I see a lack of critical thinking in many different news sources. I hope to share with you different stories that do not traditionally grace the headlines of Fox News or CNN.
